Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) support for schools

I am a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) with over 10 years’ experience working in a range of mainstream secondary schools around London. I specialise in supporting secondary-aged students with language difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and other speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). I have a particular interest in adolescent language development and helping students understand and engage with increasingly complex curriculum language. I am HCPC (SL32619) and RCSLT (RC0035604) registered.

Why secondary schools?

Language development continues throughout adolescence, yet secondary-aged students often receive far less specialist support than younger children. I am passionate about helping young people develop the language, literacy and communication skills they need to succeed academically and socially.

Service details

I offer a buy-in SALT service for mainstream secondary schools looking to support their students with diagnosed and undiagnosed SLCN, complementing the support provided by NHS services. Many young people have hidden language difficulties that affect their learning, literacy, relationships, emotional wellbeing and access to the curriculum. Specialist support can help students develop the communication skills they need to achieve their potential both in and beyond the classroom.

Support includes assessment, individual therapy, small-group interventions, target setting, progress reviews, consultation, staff training, and strategies to support students across the curriculum. Support can be tailored to the needs of individual students, groups and school settings.
